The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust was established in 1979 by their son and daughter-in-law, John and Elnora Ferguson. The Trust’s objectives have closely aligned with the interests of the Ferguson family in their devotion to peace, education, and alleviating poverty in developing nations. In 1997, the significant holding of Taylor and Francis shares became beneficial when the publishing firm was floated, and its later merger with Informa further increased the worth of the shares in the Trust. Since then, over £40 million has been allocated to a range of charities working in the UK and abroad.
About the School
Aston University is a state-owned research higher academic institution located in the city centre of Birmingham, England. Aston started as the Birmingham Municipal Technical School in 1895, growing into the UK’s premier College of Advanced Technology in 1956. Aston University obtained its royal approval from Queen Elizabeth II on 22 April 1966.

The Library is accessible 24 hours a day to Aston scholars and staff during exam time, and on average, about 12 hours a day during term time.
All over the campus there are also different open-access IT suites, providing computer and internet access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They provide access to a variety of software applications, database systems and computer-aided learning resources.

Eligibility for Aston University Ferguson Scholarships
- Possess a provisional or unconditional offer of admission for one of the above programs
- Be a citizen of an African or South American nation
- Possess a 2:1 degree qualification or equivalent in an applicable subject for the program you are applying for
- Be a self-funded scholar
- Submit a strong personal statement when putting together your program application.
How to Apply for Aston University Ferguson Scholarships
If you want to be given consideration for one of these Aston University Ferguson Scholarships and you satisfy the above eligibility requirements, you will have to:
- Hand in an application for your chosen program through their online application form prior to the scholarship closing date (please see below)
- You will then be given automatic consideration for this scholarship award and will be informed of the outcome through email.
