Monash University Co funded Monash Graduate Scholarships in Australia for 2022/2023

The Co funded Monash Graduate Scholarships are provided by Monash University to support international students undertaking Research for Doctorate and Research Masters’s degrees.

These scholarships are co-funded by Monash University and the enrolling faculty/academic unit and are open to help support students with living costs while studying at Monash University.

Monash University is a research university founded in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Named for renowned World War I general Sir John Monash, the university was formed in 1958 and is the second oldest university in the state. 

The university has some campuses, four of which are in Victoria (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula, and Parkville), and one in Malaysia. Monash University has a research and teaching center in Prato, Italy, a graduate research school in Mumbai, India, and graduate schools in Suzhou, China, and Tangerang, Indonesia. 

Monash University courses are delivered at different locations, including South Africa. Times Higher Education rated the university 18th in the world in the 2021 Impact Rankings. 

In 2021, QS World ranked Monash University No.2 globally for Pharmacy & Pharmacology, No.15 for Education & Training, and #15 for Nursing.

In 2011 Monash University had over 63,000 students across its campuses. Of these, about 46,000 are undergraduate students, 12,500 are graduate or postgraduate and 4,500 are undertaking higher degrees by research.

About 65% of Monash students have domestic citizenship (i.e. they are citizens of the country in which their main campus is located). While about 39% are international students.

The international students are from around 100 countries and speak about 90 different languages. Over 50% of Monash students have a language other than English as their mother language.

Monash University has more candidates than any other university in the state of Victoria. The university is a member of Australia’s Group of Eight research universities, a member of the ASAIHL, and is the only Australian member of the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities, and National Academies.

In addition, the university is one of the Australian universities to be rated in the École des Mines de Paris (Mines ParisTech) ranking based on the number of alumni listed among CEOs in the 500 largest worldwide companies.

Monash University is rated among the world’s top 55–70 universities in the QS World University Rankings. The university staff produces around 3,000 research publications every year, with research conducted in over 150 fields of study.

The university is home to over 120 research centers and institutes. Furthermore, major interdisciplinary research centers include the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, the Monash University Accident Research Centre, and the Monash Centre for Synchrotron Science.

The Co funded Monash Graduate Scholarships provide:

  • a living allowance (stipend), and
  • a relocation allowance, if qualified.

There are some tuition scholarships available for our international scholars that can be packaged with this stipend.

Requirements for Co funded Monash Graduate Scholarships

To be eligible for Co funded Monash Graduate Scholarships, applicants must be:

  • International student
  • meet Monash’s competitive scholarship selection process requirements and
  • meet Monash’s English language proficiency prerequisites.

The Co funded Monash Graduate Scholarships are very competitive and are awarded based on your academic record, any research outputs, and prior research experience.

How to Apply for Co funded Monash Graduate Scholarships

Application for graduate research scholarships is done at the time of applying for your course unless you are already enrolled. Hence, if you are a new or existing student, the same application process is used for both admission and/or scholarship through our Applicant Portal. Scholars do not need to determine which scholarship they are applying for as they are automatically assessed for all graduate research scholarships
