The Memorial University of Newfoundland International Entrance Award
Top candidates may be given a scholarship award valued at $4,400 as available funding permits. The scholarships are obtainable to candidates from both the St. John’s and Grenfell campuses. These International Entrance Scholarships have been created by Memorial University of Newfoundland as part of an arrangement by the Board of Regents, in May 2003, that a part of the tuition fees for foreign undergraduate candidates would be set aside for foreign Scholarships.
To be given consideration for these scholarship awards, a student has to be eligible to pay the complete international undergraduate fee, has to enrol for a minimum of 9 credit hours in each of two semesters in their first school session at Memorial University of Newfoundland, should typically have less than 31 credit hours of transfer credits and meet scholarship award conditions (similar to that recommended for Newfoundland and Labrador and Canadian candidates). These awards will be granted by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards based on a reference from the Registrar or their elect.
IUGS Entrance Scholarship for Undergraduate Candidates
This scholarship award has been made obtainable by the university via a portion of finances from the St. John’s International undergraduate student school fees (IUGS). It will be granted to new undergraduate foreign candidates on the St. John’s campus. The scholarship award will be valued at either $12,000 or $6,000 and is not typically renewable. To be given consideration for this scholarship award, a candidate has to be qualified to pay the full international undergraduate fees and satisfy scholarship award standing (in line with that recommended for Newfoundland and Labrador and Canadian candidates).
A candidate may not hold this scholarship award together with another general International entrance scholarship of substantial value. The scholarship award will be managed by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards on the basis of the recommendation of the Registrar (or elect) and the Director of Internationalization Office (or elect).
Anthony Insurance Entrance Scholarship
This scholarship award is the outcome of a generous donation to Memorial University of Newfoundland by Anthony Insurance in remembrance of Robert C. Anthony B, creator of Anthony Insurance Inc. and the Insurance Corporation of Newfoundland. Mr. Anthony, a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Business Hall of Fame, began his profession as a teacher in rural Newfoundland and put serious emphasis on the worth of education. The scholarship award is intended to assist a worthy, high-school graduate attend Memorial University of Newfoundland who would without the scholarship find it hard due to financial considerations. The worth of the scholarship award is full-time tuition for one semester.
