Visiting Fellowship Program in France 2021

A Visiting Fellowship Program has been launched by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) in association with the Ministry of Higher Education for Research and Innovation (MESRI) to welcome new researchers looking to complete their research in France as part of a “One Health” technique. The “One Health” concept advances an integrated, systemic technique to human, animal, and ecosystem health at local, national, and international levels.

MOPGA 4: Visiting Fellowship Program for Young Researchers (40 fellowship awards)

Visiting Fellowship Program for Young Researchers Description:

– Title of the project
– Keywords (6)
– Abstract of the research project (2,000 characters max.)
– Context and motivation (2,000 characters max.)
– Scientific objectives (2,000 characters max.)
– Methodology and planning report (4,500 characters max.)
– Project stand in relation to the “One Health” scientific field (2,000 characters max.)
– Partnerships and/or effects for the applicant’s nation of residence in association to the research project plan(2,000 characters max.)

Eligibility for Visiting Fellowship Program

Applicants should have obtained their PhD not more than five years before the application, i.e. they should have defended their PhD thesis between May 2016 and April 2021. They must not have lived in France after September 1st 2020 (over 90 days) and they should not be French citizens. The commencement of the visiting fellowship program for young researchers in France is slated for January 2022.

40 fellowships will be granted under this call. 

When evaluating applications, special attention will be paid to guarantee geographic diversity of the MOPGA 4th call laureates. For that reason, 7 fellowship awards will be set aside for young researchers from sub-Saharan African nations (list provided below, with the exception of South Africa).

List of the 49 sub-Saharan African nations (with the exception of South Africa): Angola, Botswana, Benin, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Congo (Brazzaville), Comoros, Djibouti, Côte d’Ivoire, Eswatini, Eritrea, Gabon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Gambia, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Kenya, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Lesotho, Malawi, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Namibia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Niger, Central African Republic, Uganda, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sao Tome Somalia, St. Helena, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Chad, Zambia and Zimbabwe. 

Requirements

Foreign researchers possessing a doctoral degree program for not up to 5 years can apply for this call for proposals. All nationalities are qualified with the exception of the French one.

40 fellowship awards will be granted to the young researchers across a 12-month period from January 2022

Benefits of Visiting Fellowship Program

– Monthly stipend of 2,500 euros  
– Moving stipend of 500 euros
– Support for social security coverage 
– Support for health insurance

A visiting fellowship arrangement with the French host institution will be put in place between the schools and the laureates. It will state the means and resources made accessible by the host laboratory so that the researcher can complete the research project.

Selection Process

In line with the ambitions and conditions of this call for applications, the selection process will be done by a globally recognized jury on the basis of national scientific expertise.

How to Apply for Visiting Fellowship Program

Candidates are required to submit their research project online on the following link: https://campusfrance.smapply.io/prog/MOPGA4 with the listed supporting documents:

  1. Your resume with the list of your publications in English language (4 pages maximum)
  2. Copy of your PhD diploma
  3. Resume of your research advisor in the French host institution for the visiting fellowship program (2 pages maximum)
  4. Letter of support from the French host institution 
  5. Letters of recommendation (not more than 3)
  6. Copy of your Passport or National ID

TIMELINE

– March 8th, 2021: Application period starts
– May 3rd, 2021: Application period ends
– End of October 2021: Notification of outcomes
– January 2022: Arrival of the fellows in the host French institution and commencement of the one-year research visiting fellowship
